Tips for Measuring Your
Windows & Doors
Simple guidance to help you get started with confidence
MEASURING WINDOWS
Standard Windows
- Sketch your window as viewed from inside the room.
- Take all measurements from inside, recording them in centimeters or inches.
- Width: Measure from reveal to reveal (left to right).
- Height: Measure from the window sill (cill) to the head (top of opening).
- Record the largest measurement to ensure proper fit.
- Depth: Measure the window depth (frame thickness) from the front face of the window frame to the back edge, using the visible side of the window opening.
📌 Tip: Do not include trims or architraves in your measurements.
MEASURING BAY WINDOWS
Bay windows require multiple measurements due to their angles.
- Draw a simple sketch of your bay window from the inside.
- Measure each individual window width as marked in your sketch.
- Measure the full width across the bay.
- Measure the depth from the window edge to the furthest point of the bay..
- Measure height from the cill to the head.

MEASURING FRONT & BACK DOORS
- Sketch your door as viewed from inside the room.
- Measure the opening width from reveal to reveal.
- Measure height from the floor to the head of the opening.
- If your door includes side panels, measure each panel separately.
- Note door type (single, double, pivot, or with sidelights).
📌 If unsure, submit approximate measurements—final sizing is always confirmed before order.
MEASURING PATIO, FRENCH & BI-FOLD DOORS
- Sketch the door system from inside the room.
- Measure the total width of the opening.
- Measure height from the finished floor to the head.
- Indicate the number of panels and opening direction if known.
- Note whether the door opens inward or outward.
